BABC recently partnered with the Rotary Club of Tokyo Ginza New, the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh Metro, and Meakea Apiwadh to build an innovative clean water system on the grounds of the Prey Ah primary school in the Samrong district of Takeo province. The Clean Water Project – comprising a 17,000 liter collection basin, a UV filtration system, a 1,000 liter holding tank, and an underground drainage system supplying water to garden beds and primary school toilets – is already delivering clean drinking water to thousands of students, teachers, and community members who previously sourced their water from bacteria-laden local ponds.
In addition to the construction of the water system, the project provided hygiene and sanitation education along with 1250 reusable water bottles for students and teachers at Prey Ah and thirty 20-liter bottles for storing purified water in every classroom.
The Clean Water Project was dedicated in memory of Sil Sineng, Meakea Founder and BABC Director from 2008-2009 who passed away tragically in October last year.
