Stop Evictions Campaign

Cambodia- Human Rights Day (3).jpgThe STOP EVICTIONS! Campaign seeks to bring an end to forced evictions, displacement and other serious violations of land and housing rights by providing strategic support to communities threatened with forced eviction, emergency response prior to and during forced evictions, and policy-level advocacy on improving land tenure security and legal safeguards for evictions and involuntary resettlement. BABC is an active member of the Housing Rights Task Force network and contributes regularly to coalition activities and specific case and policy advocacy working groups.

BABC conducts media advocacy and provides legal and strategic support to communities that are defending their land and housing rights from unlawful forced eviction. We provide legal aid, advice and analysis to help communities pursue legal remedies.  Through our CELA program, we conduct legal awareness and skills training workshops when requested by communities who seek to enhance their advocacy by using legal arguments.  In emergency situations, BABC responds with monitoring and urgent actions before, during and after forced evictions.

BABC is also lobbying the Cambodian Government to enact a comprehensive National Resettlement Policy that meets international obligations, and a National Housing Policy that improves the tenure security of the urban poor.
