Professional and Career Break Volunteers

This program is designed for professionals who have advanced skills that can enhance a variety of programs at BABC, including Fundraising, Human Resources, Education, Engineering, Agriculture, etc.  Recently we have welcomed volunteers to support our Legal, Communications, Finance, Livelihoods Design and Health Programs – just to name a few. A key aspect of our professional volunteer program is working alongside local counterparts to uphold our goal of sustainability and build on the development of skills for our local staff members.  Volunteers in this program are requested to commit to a minimum of 3 months and are selected on an individual case basis.

  >> Placement: Researching and developing new materials and resources for BABC and the communities we support throughout Southeast Asia .

  >> Role: Assist and advise BABC senior management staff on developing and enhancing BABC programs and initiatives.  To include PME – planning, monitoring and evaluation.

  >> Benefits

A)    Volunteers: Professional volunteers are provided with a unique opportunity to experience different and possibly life-changing work outside of their selected career path.  Through a variety of BABC initiatives, volunteers are able to see how millions of people all over the developing world live and experience entirely new perspectives on life by seeing the difficulties faced by local communities in rural and urban areas of Southeast Asia .

B)    Local Communities: As community members are the direct beneficiaries of all BABC programs, local communities benefit from being exposed to energetic and professional people from around the world who genuinely want to help them improve their position in life.

  >> Program Fees

A)    Volunteering Only – no package or accommodation

·         One-time Fee: $500, regardless of length of stay.

·         Note: Due to our preference for keeping overheads low and maximizing funds & donations for program initiatives – BABC often recruit volunteers for staff positions.  This can be done directly with BABC or through partner organizations like VIDA, ISLP and Outreach International. For these positions, there is no fee paid to BABC to participate in the volunteering only program.
