Project Week Volunteers

This program is targeted at volunteers who want to make a difference, but do not have the time or opportunity to volunteer for one of our longer term placements.  Project weeks usually consist of manual labor at one of our community centers and can include the construction of local housing, renovating community buildings, and painting classrooms.  This year volunteers helped to renovate the Community Vocational Training Center (CVTC) in the village of Chamcar Bei (Kep), helped with forest rejuvenation in the rainforest in Northern Thailand and participated in the construction of an organic vegetable garden at Wildflower Home, a refuge for teenage single mothers in Chiang Mai.

  >> Placement: Typically in rural project areas performing manual labor around the community centers – structural renovations, scraping and painting, vegetable cultivation, etc

  >> Role: Provide manual labor for various short-term home and livelihood projects.

  >> Benefit:

A)  Volunteer: Participants benefit from gaining a rich insight into local cultures and learning about sustainable rural development activities and projects.  BABC strives to make these activities enjoyable through interaction with the local community.

B)  Local Community: Local communities benefit from interaction with the volunteers and the improvement to their local conditions.
